Many businesses are reliant on technology to run their daily operations. If the unexpected were to happen, would your business have a plan in place to ensure as minimal disruption as possible?

It has been estimated that over 40% of organisations never reopen following a disaster. Of the surviving companies, at least 25% will close within 2 years. Disaster Recovery (DR) planning gives businesses a clear idea of what targets must be met in the event of something unexpected, but major. However, for many organisations, it can cause some real headaches.

Not only must all the important business data be safely backup up, it must be kept away from the disaster zone and be possible to read the data back and/or apply it to new equipment. That is assuming you have the new equipment pre-configured and on standby with the software necessary.

Unfortunately, very few organisations want to invest the time and money into something that ‘might’ get used and simply opt-out.

How does DR as a Service work with Serval IT Systems?

For our cloud services, the infrastructure was built from the ground up to be resilient and redundant. We will manage and monitor our systems to minimise the likelihood of failure, but we recognise that equipment does fail. Therefore, when a failure occurs, a redundant system will take over, minimising or negating the effects of the failure.

We add site-to-site replication as part of our Disaster Recovery services, which means there is always a second datacentre ready to take over your services.

For on-premise IT services, we will assess your IT environment and produce an audit of all the potential points of failure. Following this, we will make recommendations on the best way to protect your business from the consequences of a disaster. Additionally, there is the option to have a custom DR as a Service solution built that replicates your entire IT infrastructure to the cloud. Therefore, in the event of a crisis, you can be back up and running to normal within a few hours.
